Ecwid by Lightspeed has announced plans to support UCP as a participant. No public endpoint is available yet.
Ecwid, now part of Lightspeed Commerce, is an embeddable ecommerce platform used by over 1 million merchants in 175 countries. Unlike traditional platforms that require migrating to a new website, Ecwid adds a shopping layer to any existing site. Lightspeed acquired Ecwid to strengthen its SMB commerce offering and has announced UCP support as part of the platform roadmap.
The Ecwid UCP implementation is platform-wide. When the integration ships, every Ecwid-powered store gains a UCP-compatible endpoint automatically. Merchants do not need to configure anything individually. The endpoint is generated from each store's existing product catalog and payment settings.
Ecwid's embeddable model creates an interesting deployment pattern for UCP. Merchants can have their store embedded in a social media page, a personal website, and a marketplace simultaneously, all served from the same Ecwid backend. The UCP endpoint sits at the Ecwid store level, making the merchant accessible to agents regardless of which surface a consumer found them on.
Lightspeed's retail POS integration is a planned extension. Ecwid merchants who also run physical stores through Lightspeed Retail can surface real-time in-store inventory through their UCP endpoint.
