Shopware is an open-source ecommerce platform with over 100,000 merchants, primarily in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. It offers a self-hosted open-source edition and a cloud SaaS version. Shopware has announced native UCP support as part of its platform roadmap.
Shopware's strong footprint in the German-speaking market makes it an important platform for European UCP coverage. Many mid-market DACH merchants run on Shopware. A platform-level UCP integration means this entire merchant base becomes accessible to agents without individual store-by-store implementation work.
The open-source nature of Shopware creates a community contribution dynamic for UCP. Extension developers can build UCP-specific plugins that add custom capabilities on top of the platform's base integration. Early Shopware UCP plugins are already appearing in the Shopware Community Store.
Shopware 6's API-first architecture is well-suited for UCP. Its Store API already handles headless commerce, and the UCP checkout endpoint is being implemented as an extension of the existing Store API capability set.
