Zip, formerly known as Quadpay in the US, is a buy now, pay later platform that lets shoppers split purchases into four interest-free payments. Zip operates in 14 countries and partners with over 50,000 merchants. The company is building UCP payment token support to make its installment products available in agent-initiated checkout sessions.
The practical value is significant. Shoppers who have pre-authorized Zip through their AI agent platform can buy items above their immediate budget in four payments, fully automated. The agent handles the checkout session, Zip handles the credit decision and payment schedule, and the merchant receives full payment upfront. No human intervention required.
Zip's UCP integration targets its core consumer segment: shoppers aged 18 to 35 who already use BNPL as a default payment method. Merchants selling apparel, electronics, and home goods with average order values between $50 and $500 are the primary beneficiaries.
